We have been talking about an Education Day for some time now, and after last year’s unsuccessful attempt to organize one before the end of 2007 we are proud to announce the first BGIn Education Day!! With this mail I send you the official invite to attend this meeting.

To ensure that the needs of the games industry are met through the alignment of quality game development related courses and education, BGIn has organized this event to bring both the people of the games industry and people from educational institutions for a brainstorming session.  During this meeting we will discuss the current cooperative state between education and the games industry in order to find a practical way forward that can increase the quality of game development education.

Topics to be addressed include,

• Current educational developments at schools
• Assessment of the regions complete set of courses
• Understanding of vacancies vs. graduates; do the various courses match the different types of job(opening)s
• Audit of the current level of cooperation between companies and institutions; how can BGIn facilitate in all this…

Based on the feedback that we get during this session, BGIn can define its way forward for the Education pillar. Additionally, based on this session, an official Education Special Interest Group will be assembled to work on specific topics / problems.  The Educational Special Interest Group will consist of a mixture of people from the games industry and educational institutions.

A detailed agenda for the meeting will be sent shortly.  

BGIn’s Education Day will be held in Rotterdam from 1400 to 1700 hours. Doors open at 1330 and the session will start at 1400 sharp. After the session, you are invited for a networking drink in a bar at the same location.
